Boots, Birds, and Binocs... Peru 2011

Location: Honey Brook, PA, United States

Everything is packed. Just weighed my bag... scale said 32lbs. Hope that's enough because my buddy that went on this trip last year told me it's a tough trek. We'll see.

To be honest, I don't know that much about Peru, other than the fact that it is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world. Oh yeah, and the Amazon is there! Machu Picchu should be an interesting place. I'm pretty psyched to use these binos. I have read that most of the people in Peru are quite poor. Given that I have (fortunately) done quite a bit of traveling, I probably won't be shocked to see extreme poverty. It's never a nice site though. One thing I do notice, however, is that people living in poverty still seem to be some of the happiest people I meet. They usually always have a smile on their face. This, I anticipate to see. Peru, for the next month, I'm all yours. I can't wait to explore you. Treat me generously, please.
¡Hasta mañana!
